Launched in 2000 to recognize sponsorship marketing excellence, the Sponsorship Marketing Awards (SMAs) have become a cornerstone of the Sponsorship Marketing Council Canada (SMCC) and an anticipated event in the Canadian marketing calendar. The SMAs recognize and reward the work of properties, brands, and agencies that have maximized the return on their investments in sponsorship marketing.
SMCC is excited to announce that we will be hosting the SMAs virtually again this year! With the previous Awards being a huge success, we look forward to launching a new event platform for the SMAs and engaging with all of you, once again. We will be celebrating this year’s winners and providing the opportunity for attendees to network with industry peers, from the comfort of your own home!
We are modifying the program to accommodate a condensed virtual format that celebrates the success of the sponsorship marketing industry over the past year and of course, recognizing the 2021 case submitters and winners!

Highlights from the 2020 SMAs
On September 24, 2020, sponsorship marketers from across Canada joined SMCC virtually to recognize sponsorship marketing excellence at the 20th Annual SMAs. With a record number of case submissions this year, winners were announced in thirteen categories. Attendees also had the opportunity to hear from the 2020 Hall of Fame inductee, Monique Giroux, who shared key insights on her outstanding career. Despite the virtual format, attendees still had the opportunity to connect with one another, virtually! A virtual networking session was held following the Awards portion.
