Highlights from the 2020 Sponsorship Marketing Awards

Launched in 2000 to recognize sponsorship marketing excellence, the Sponsorship Marketing Awards (SMAs) have become a cornerstone of the Sponsorship Marketing Council Canada (SMCC) and an anticipated event in the Canadian marketing calendar. The SMAs recognize and reward the work of properties, brands, and agencies that have maximized the return on their investments in sponsorship marketing. 

On September 24, 2020, sponsorship marketers from across Canada joined SMCC virtually to recognize sponsorship marketing excellence at the 20th Annual SMAs. With a record number of case submissions this year, winners were announced in thirteen categories. Attendees also had the opportunity to hear from the 2020 Hall of Fame inductee, Monique Giroux, who shared key insights on her outstanding career. Despite the virtual format, attendees still had the opportunity to connect with one another, virtually! A virtual networking session was held following the Awards portion.

Highlights from the 2019 SMAs

On April 4, 2019, sponsorship marketers from across Canada packed the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto to recognize sponsorship marketing excellence at the 19th Annual SMAs. The event saw unprecedented success with a record number of attendees in the event’s 19-year history. In addition to the awards celebration, keynote speaker, Scott Stratten, and emcee, Evanka Osmak, entertained the audience throughout the evening. Attendees also had the opportunity to hear from the 2019 Hall of Fame inductee, Chris Lang, who shared insights from his career spanning more than five decades. During the Opening Reception and the After Party, attendees enjoyed valuable networking opportunities, several unique food stations, an open bar, and live performances by a pianist and DJ Cam B.
