Salary: $55,000+ annually commensurate to experience

VIFF believes cinema is a uniquely accessible and empathetic art form that fosters greater understanding between
peoples. The nature of our work is inherently pluralistic and progressive, reflecting the cultural diversity and the
most pressing concerns of all film-producing nations, including, of course, BC artists and the BC film community.
We champion artistic excellence, independent, documentary, Indigenous and Canadian filmmakers, and work that
may not otherwise find a space in the commercial exhibition realm.

At our annual festival and increasingly throughout our year-round activities, filmmakers convene to share their
work, participate in industry workshops and panels, network with industry professionals, and converse with our
enthusiastic, engaged audience of film lovers. VIFF has been at the forefront of expanding the scope of this
dialogue, fostering a new generation of independent Canadian and Indigenous artists working in disciplines that
include film, television, Virtual Reality (VR) and AR (Augmented Reality), and those who explore the creative
fusion between film and live performance in myriad manifestations.

With our expanding mentorship and education programmes we are actively engaging with young filmmakers and
audiences to encourage and inspire the next generation of artists and critical thinkers. VIFF is one of the premier

Position Summary
We are looking for an experienced sponsorship professional, with a talent for developing effective, trusting and
mutually beneficial relationships, to join us as Partnership Manager. Reporting to the Director of Corporate
Partnerships, this individual will be part of a small but dynamic revenue generation team focused on expanding
existing relationships and securing new ones in support of VIFF’s strategic goals.
The successful candidate will be an innovative, self-motivated specialist with a proven track record of sponsorship
success in any or all the following areas: agency, arts and/or property. Working in close collaboration with VIFF
Programming, Marketing and Philanthropy departments, this individual will provide planning, logistical,
communication and execution support for VIFF partners during the festival and year-round as defined by the
Director of Corporate Partnerships.

Overall responsibility:

  • Relationship Management – Partner communication, reporting and stewardship at or above industry standards
  • Sales – Maximizing opportunities by managing prospects efficiently through the sales funnel.
  • Contracted Benefits Delivery – Partner recognition, branding and activation deliverables provided beyond their expectations
  • Departmental Strategic Oversite – Staying up to date on industry and market intelligence to support departmental planning and budget strategies

Corporate Partnerships:

  • Develop superb working relationships with VIFF’s 60+ sponsors and partners while ensuring a high level of satisfaction through exceptional service delivery
  • Support the Director of Corporate Partnerships in building of strategic and operational plans for the department including year over year pricing and benefits strategy
  • Development and preparation of sales collateral – thought starters, presentations and proposals created and delivered in a timely manner
  • Take lead on all partnerships up to the Signature Partner or $50k level
  • Lead internal ideation and discovery sessions in support of sponsorship sales as required
  • Sourcing and analysis of market research data to support VIFF’s sponsorship initiatives – brand, prospect, and general industry research
  • Manage the critical function of tracking and maintaining partner information in organization’s partnerships management database Salesforce
  • Participate in internal review of design/marketing collateral that reflect sponsor recognition to deliver on contractual obligations
  • Draft sponsor contracts with the Director of Corporate Partnerships
  • Lead the reconciliation process of partner invoices and payments.
  • Attend meetings and liaise with other departments as defined by the Director of Corporate Partnerships to represent the corporate partnership department
  • Make certain that the corporate partnerships team is meeting agreed upon deadlines both internally and externally
  • Manage the training and provide leadership for annual festival short term support staff – Partnerships Coordinator and Activations Specialist
  • Lead all aspects related to the creation of the critical partner relationship/communication document – Partnerships benefits reports, containing applicable organizational stats and sponsor recognition elements
  • Host partners and prospects as required and generally represent VIFF in the community at a high level

Requirements / Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years of sponsorship/partnership marketing and sales experience or equivalent experience in a related field
  • A degree or diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution
  • Demonstrated previous experience working in a deadline driven environment preferably delivering large events as part of a high performing team
  • A keen eye for detail, a passion for exceeding expectations and a desire for providing “value-added” service
  • Exceptional verbal and written communications skills with attention to particulars as required for contracts, proposals, etc.
  • Outstanding presentation skills
  • Strong listening and negotiation abilities are a necessity
  • Capacity to effectively share ideas and courageously take initiative
  • Proficient in several key business software solutions (Microsoft Office) and CRM’s or data base programs (Salesforce, FileMaker Pro, Shiftboard)
  • Skilled in computer programs for building proposals, reports, and similar documents (Adobe InDesign preferred)
  • Exceptional relationship management skills focused on providing solutions to issues at hand
  • Ability to prioritize competing priorities effectively
  • Proven track record of getting deals done Additional recognized experience in negotiation, budget
    management and forecasting is an asset
